What we need to recommend the right cold room

A cold room that suits one business can be wrong for another. Before we propose a design, we ask about:

• Products: fish, meat, dairy, fruit and vegetables, beverages, or a mix. Each has a different ideal storage temperature.
• Capacity: how much product you store at a time, and how often stock comes in and out.
• Temperature: chilled storage, or frozen storage, or both.
• Site: available space, access for delivery and installation, floor condition, and where the equipment can be positioned.
• Power: the electrical supply available, and whether backup power is needed.

Chilled and frozen cold rooms

Chilled rooms hold product just above freezing to keep it fresh. Freezer rooms hold product well below freezing for longer storage. Some businesses need both, for example a restaurant keeping vegetables and dairy chilled and meat or fish frozen. See our cold room temperature guide for typical ranges by product.
